Sorry for the delay in replying, but the "notification" link doesn't seem to work anymore for me, don't know about others.

The SANDERS/KEOUGH info is 1900 census [Ancestry, possibly on familysearch.org]. I would guess her maiden name would be SANDERS, unless her mom had remarried.

Wm probably knew no other father, so took Peter's name. He might have legally adopted him.

Death certs are only as good as the knowledge of the informant. Only the deathdate/location are "fact". Parents' names are always open to speculation. You might try the library for obits....
