Harry, Below is the 1930 census record for the Hood family. They were on the 1920, also, but in Perinton, Monroe Co., then. Same general info. but no lodgers & James was working as a moulder in a piano factory. James has a Sept. 1918 WW1 draft reg. card on which he gives his birthdate as 13 Sept. 1881 in Great Britain & his next of kin as Anna McMillan Hood. He was living at 111 East Ave. in East Rochester & working at the American Piano Co. His physical description was: short, medium build, blue eyes & brown hair. If you go to the FultonHistory site & do a search for "James Hood", some of the hits are from a Rochester newspaper & may be for this James Hood. It may be worth checking. http://www.fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html Pat R. 1930; Census Place: East Rochester, Monroe, New York; Roll: 1447; Page: 23A; April 14th. 217 West Ave. HOOD, James, head, owns home $7,500, age 48, married at age 23, b.
