My grandmother, Anna (Annie) Heaney, was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1886. She said he dad was from County Down in Northern Ireland. William John married Anna Mooney (who turned Catholic to marry William) -- and they had two sons, Frank and Joe and four other daughters, Maggie, Mamie, Katie and Lizzie.
My grandmother told me at one time that her father, William John, was a Grand Marshall of the New York St. Patrick's Day parade. I am having no success verifying these elusive Heaneys. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
