According to the Ellis Island database, Martha Jane Porter arrived in New York on September 5, 1892 aboard the SS City of Rome. She was 26 years old, a native of Sligo, Ireland. This manifest did not have a column for marital status, but the presumption is she was single on that date. She boarded the vessel in Moville.
