Yes, there's a possibility of a distant connection. Do you have ancestors, family connections to Wisconsin, Door County or Lake County, Illinois? I am a direct descendant of Myron Hamilton Stevens, born New York, 1816, married 1844 in Lake, Illinois, to Annie Irene Graham. Myron Hamilton Stevens died in 1894, Fish Creek, Door County, Wisconsin. Hamilton was used as a first name for Myron Stevens, who was referred to as Hamilton to distinguish him from his father Myron Stevens, born in Hartford, Conn. (No connection to Alexander Hamilton. Yes, it is an odd name to me too. And it only occurs this one time in my research so far.)
However, more importantly, Do you know of an Oliver Stevens in your Stevens' family?
I have listings of Stevens children born in Onondaga County. Can you provide a specific town in New York, coinciding with dates of Myron Hamilton's birth?
I have a Sarah Isabella Shepard Stevens, born 1786, Stamford, Fairfield,CT, whose father was John Shepard and mother was Millicent Edsall.
I have no William and Ann Stevens. Do you have any French names as a last name? (My grandmother was Mary French Stevens Gergen. We are trying to explain the "French" name.)Can you provide more names?Rosalind Lacy MacLennan
