Have you checked the 1850 census for Brookfield? On pg. 50 there is a Cheeseborough family with a 5 yr. old girl named Ama S. The head of household is Wm. Cheeseborough, 31. with him is Angeline, 31, likely his wife & two other children George, 4 & Bocelia, 1. Also in the home is Joseph Heacock, 74. On the next page (50a) is Ira & Lydia Palmer. The rest of their family is carried over on the next page (51), including Charles, 14. Ama S. may well be Sophronia.
If you go to http://www.fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html & search for "Charles Palmer"+Brookfield+Ellison there will be 4 hits. One of these is an article in the Brookfield Courier for 1889-1890 about the marriage of Charles Palmer & Amanda Ellison. I can`t find a date on the page but one of the articles is about letters left uncalled for in the Brookfield Post Office June 1, 1890. It would appear that Sophronia must have died before 1890, if her husband re-married that year. I could find no mention of her death in a search.
