Hi Marian, I am hoping you can shed some light on Grace HAMMOND. My HAMMONDs came from Madison County - Fenner after they were married Joseph HAMMOND married Mary CHAPMAN and their children were born in Madison Co before they left NY and settled in Wisconsin before the Civil War like after 1830 census. I have not been able to find anything on Joseph (or Mary CHAPMAN for that matter). One of the later censes records (1870) claims he was born in MA and Mary in CT. My ggrandfather Charles Hammond, son of Joseph's son Thomas, claimed his father was born in Nelson County NY but I am thinking he meant Nelson (a town) in NY. Thomas was born 14 Oct 1830.

Thank you for your time, Mary (in South Dakota email marybuchholz516@gmail.com)
