Recently received information from a book called "Tree Talks" which is evidently about early Madison County residents. It includes
buriels, legal information, church information etc. One small piece of information which actually referred to my family of interest, that of Dwight W. Allen, says the following: (there is no date included with this information)
"Guardianship: Dwight Allen 20 years, (Nov 19 last). Charles 18 years, (Aug 31 last) George 16 years (July 23 last) Julia 11 years
(Mar 7 last) , and John 6 years (Jan last), William ALlen father, Harriet mother (Apr 29 1830 ? appt) of Lebanon. John W. Allen of Lebanon over 14 years."
Does anyone have a clue what this entry in the book means? I found a Harriet Allen alone in the 1840 census in Lebanon. Could it mean the parents separated and the mother got custody? And who is the John W. tacked on at the end?
Any theories appreciated.
