I have read the posting on the bulletin board with great interest...I just found Linnie Ault who was b. Philinda Stoughton, 1856 in Hamilton Co., OH to Eli & Emeline Scofield Stoughton. Linnie m. William Ault in Cinti., OH 1882. Linnie d. June 1920 & is buried @ Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin, Kane Co., ILL. Her sister, Matilda Stoughton Thompson lived in Elgin and she is buried with her sister's family. Linnie was a widow in 1910 Census at Craig Colony. Previously (1899) she was living in Pittsburgh with her mother Emeline, but Emeline d. in 1904 and I have not been able to find where she died. Linney had a brother, George W. who lived in Rochester. So when I read an explanation of the Colony admission, I thought - oh, she probably lived with her brother for a while to establish necessary residency. I am thinking that her mother went with her to NY perhaps to visit George W and his family. Since in the 1900 Census Emeline is found living with George W. and his family but no Linnie can be found in the 1900 Census for Pittsburgh or Rochester. Could Linney have already been at Craig's Colony 1900 and Emeline was at George's house so she could be close to her in 1900? Or, was Emeline also later in the Colony before her death in 1904. The problem is that I have never been able to find where Emeline, (the mother of Linnie Ault and George W. is burried ... she d. 1904. I would like to know when Linney went to Craig's Colony, from where and when she was discharged and perhaps to whom. She was listed as a cook there. So was she an employee or an inmate? And, also would like to know if just by chance Emeline Scofield Stoughton was at the Colony 1900-1904? And, if by chance she died there? Any information would be such a great help... thanks in advance Patti Notify Administrator about this message?
