A Georges LIGINGER arrived in New York on 30 Apr 1853 on the ship Persian from Havre (France). He was single, a 23 year old farmer and the only LIGINGER on that voyage.
According to the 1880 Manhattan census, the family lived at 162 Spring Street and included:

wife, Margaret, 42, Bav Bav Bav, keeps house

son, Frank, 12, NY
