Hi Albert. Thanks for the info. While I am not positive that the Alexander Skinner in your 1844-45 city directory is my Alexander if it is it represents the earliest address I have for him. I figure he wed in 1840 or 1841. I have been trying to locate early Brooklyn City Directories and will us the address you provided. I have him as a grocer and a ferry captain. What a guy from the sticks in Virginia is doing in Brooklyn is an interesting subject for conjecture.
