Brooklyn Trade Directories post 1860

THOMAS KENNINGTON b. 1811 in England sailed for NY with his wife Eliza in 1843. He is recorded as a shoemaker in Brooklyn in 1840 and 1850.

I have now been given details of entries for him in Hearne's Directory in 1850-51, boot and shoe store, 55 Main
and Hearne's directory 1859-60, boots and shoes, 55 Main

Does he appear in any directory after that date?

I have also been given the URL for BMD certificates and note that the Brooklyn births start at 1866:

http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/vitalrecords/holdings.shtml

How can I obtain a certificate for a birth dated c1842?

Many thanks,
Colleen
