Bert Towles

Alexandria Bay-- Bert F Towles, 72, Route 12, died May 14 in Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, where he had been a patient since Apr 18.

Mr Towles was a self-employed dairy farmer and had also worked at Garlock Farm. He previously had driven tractor-trailer for Pilot Freight.

Born Feb 23, 1931, in Belleville, son of Frank and Mabel Hess Towles, he attended Belleville Union Academy and served in the Army during the Korean War.

A marriage to June Fletcher ended in divorce. He married Carol Dingman Flath on Nov 17, 1984. She died Apr 16, 1985.

Surviving are a son, Kelly, Florida, three daughters, Deborah Side and Connie Dack, both of Alexandria Bay, and Kathy Allen, Plessis; five sisters, Ruby Jackson, Pulaski, Ruth Peters, Rodman, Shirley Stewart, Watertown, Ralph and Raymond, both of Adams, Allen, Belleville, and Ronald, Mannsville, and eight grandchildren.

Two sisters, Iva Bartlett and Eva Sochia, three brothers, John, Alfred and Francis, and a son, Stacy, died before him.

A memorial service was held Saturday at Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville. Burial was in Ellisburg Cemetery.

1850 ..i see a Daniel and a Danthia Hess (no hess children) living with the John and Olive Cobb family in the same area as Anice and Daniel did.

1860 there is Daniel with Anice now living next door the Olive and John.
