You are right- Smiths are a challenge! However, it sounds like our Smiths might be connected. My husband's 2G-grandmother was Rhoda Ann Smith, b.22 Sept. 1817 in Henderson, Jefferson County, N.Y. She had a brother named Adams Smith, b. 8 Mar. 1821 in Henderson. I have no idea who their parents are, but wish I did!
Rhoda m. John Hawes in Jefferson Co., N.Y. in 1841, Adams married Harriet or Hannah ?.
About 1844, Rhoda and John Hawes and a son, Edward B. Hawes moved to Jefferson County, Wisconsin, which neighbors Dodge County, WI. Adams and his wife also removed to Jefferson, WI, but I'm not sure if it was at the same time as the Hawes family went. In 1860, Adams is living in Jefferson, WI. next door to a Charles Smith who was also born in N.Y. In 1870, Adams and family were living next door to John and Rhoda Ann Hawes in Jefferson, WI.
John and Rhoda moved on to Republic Co., KS in 1873 with their family. Adams stayed in Jefferson, WI. Rhoda died in Republic Co., KS. 19 Aug. 1890. Adams died in Jefferson, WI. in Feb. 1897.
Can you help any on who Rhoda and Adams' parents might be? Thanks!
