HALL in Depauville, LeRay & Clayton

Hello again - this is the HALL message that goes with the BOWE message I just sent. Both families lived for many years in JEFFERSON COUNTY, NEW YORK.

I have only a few names on the BOWE line and am pretty well desperate about finding anything more on them. I do have quite a bit more on the HALLs - but if anyone can add to what I have I'll be most grateful. I understand that the HALLs are among the earliest settlers of the area.

(1) Jonathan HALL was born 1770 in Uxbridge MA, married HEPZIBAH ALBEE in Uxbridge in 1793, died in Depauville on 27 July 1848.

(2) Jonathan's son FOSTER-VARY HALL was born on 15 Mar 1809 in Whitingham, Windham VT, married REBECCA WINSLOW in LeRay NY in 1832, and died 17 Jan 1884 in Depauville, buried Depauville Cem.

(3) Foster's son NEWTON BAXTER HALL was born on 9 Jan 1840 in Depauville, married HELEN MELISSA BOWE on 17 Jan 1861 in Depauville, and died in Alabama on 16 March 1915.

Despite a pretty good number of dates, these people are still just cardboard cut-outs to us. Can anyone help to flesh them out? Were there others in the families? Were they farmers, merchants? Have they left any trace of themselves in the little area where they lived from the early 1830s into the 1880s? I will appreciate whatever you can tell me. Thank you!
