ATTENTION--Local Historian PLEASE help!

We have info. that our 4-great grandfather owned land with a Sawmill and Blockhouse already on this property at the time of purchase. This would be near the town of Cape Vincent or Lyme, Jefferson County, New York about 1814 give or take a year or so either way. Landowner's name would have been Freegift Holbrook Perry, wife's name was Chloe Bennett/Perry.Any info. from a local historian as to where this property might have been located would be geatly appreciated. Or if we could be directed into the right direction as to where to find such info. as we live in the Mid-West.Freegift died in 1819 but had already sold this property and bought two miles distant.
Thanks in advance,
Connie or e-mail TinConnie@webtv.net
