Have tried to e-mail several researchers, however all are returned so posting here. Have been tracing the parents of Orson Whitmore, born Ellisburg, Jefferson County, New York and died in Michigan. Jonathan Whitmore had a son the right age. In 1850 Jonathan's wife was given as "Hearty" and found her again in 1880 as Harta living in the household of her son Harvey in Jefferson County, Wisconsin. Cephas no longer there. He enlisted in the civil war and died at Shiloh. His mother filed a mother's pension application on March 5, 1863in which she states she was the widow of Jonathan Whitmore who died August 27, 1855 in Ellisburg, Jefferson County, NY, married September 23, 1824 in same county by Jonathan Bullence and her maiden name was Haskins. Her character witnesses were Leroy Vorce(married to Sarah Fuller, sister to Orson Whitmore's wife Mary) and Seneca Fuller. Most all families moved to VanBuren County, Michigan. My husband is descended from the Fullers and Whitmores.
