Stodards in Champion/Jefferson County
Posted by: Michael Sullivan (ID *****7974) Date: September 06, 2007 at 22:46:58

I've traced my Stoddard family line to a Sylvanus (silvenus?) stodard in Champion, NY. I've noticed that there are a LOT of Stodards in Jefferson/Oswego/Oneida counties. Wondering where they came from - Connecticut? Vermont? Any ideas as to where Sylv. Stodard's ancestors are from? he had a wife Mary, and son Levi and Edwin (Edwin is my great great grandfather) in the 1850 cenus in Champion. Edwin ended up spelling his name as Stoddard by his death in 1926.
