I have wondered if Asa Sherman and Mary listed in the 1860 census were the parents of Lois Maitland, wife of William. Do we know anything about william prior to the 1830 census? the muster records for his sons William And Robert say that they were born in the early 1820's in Hammond and another town, so the family was in St. Lawrence County a bit after 1820. Where was William Prior to that? On Email said that he was a fisherman in ireland and was shanghyed by the Americans I think it was an came to America that way during the War of 1812.
