Evening. I don't have a VOTERY in my direct line but there is a 9 year old child with Joseph Votery in 1870-Harriet H. Gibbs, who is very likely my husband's great grandgrandmother. She was a poor child and her life's story is sad. The census taker places her in her own apartment at age 9, next door to Joseph Votery but that is highly unlikely. She must have been a servant in his home. I did just a little work to see if there was a familial connection but have not concluded that.
I have Joseph's death date-1888, age 64, in Batavia, bur. St. Joseph's Cem., wife Mary Bater, d. 1909, bur. with him.The children I have are from the census.
Son John W. is bur. with parents, no date on stone.
Son Joseph b. ca 1860, m. Margaret George 1857-1942.Joseph died 1928 and bur. with parents.
I may have seen Joseph in SAULSBURY NOTES, GENESEE CO> which I found at the History Center last year.
Mary Bater, dau. of Peter and Mary Sampson Bater, Joseph votery, son of Peter Votery and wife Olive.

This is all that I know. I'm searching Palmer, Gibbs, Hess, Feltman of Genesee Co.
Deanna
