Yes, Thank you! The Farrant's and Benham's were 2 of the first people to settle in Byron. The railroad(NewYork Central and Hudson River Railroad) that runs on the North side of our property (Benham's land) was used then for residential transportation...apparently the 2 families were not to far from nieghbors. South Holley Rd. would also be Rt.237, as am I. On origonal survey we are said to be Lot No.89,township No.1 and of The 100,000 Acre or Connecticut Tract. Martin C. Benham & his wife Jane E.,(Howard's parents) sold the land to Florence J. (Farrant) Benham on April 25,1893. Where they then had this big Victorian home built. Filed April 8,1897 recites death of Florence on Jan.4,1897 at age 20...leaving 2 year old Howard Sidney Benham her estate. Frank S. Wood was assigned temporary Guardian to Howard Sidney on Jan. 21,1903, and sold estate to Bert H. Gall on Jan. 31,1903. Other parcells of land were sold off to; Stephen T. Miner,Frank P. Coward and Parnel E.,his wife,George W. Root,Lydia L. Miller.
When Bert Gall died he left the house to his daughter's Mary Cofran and Charlotte G. Maybach.June 5,1945. They sold the house Dec.23,1950 to Fremont W. Keefer and his wife Edith L....there were 2 more owners then before us. Pecks and Hager's.
Any info would be great! Let me know and THANKYOU..
