Court Record Essex County 1639
Posted by: JEFFREY SOUTHMAYD (ID *****0116) Date: August 26, 2010 at 07:19:53
  of 1294

I found a record of my ancestor William Southmeade that reads "William, husbandman, Gloucester, lawsuit in 1639, constable 22(9) 1648 [Es. Court rec.] [See Southmeade]". I have been trying to get information on this lawsuit in 1639 to see if it confirms that my ancestor was in Gloucester at that time. I know from my research he was married there in 1642, but have not been able to find a record on when he came to Gloucester exactly or how.

I assume "constable 22(9) 1648" references a written court record of some kind for which I would love to have a copy.
