BRANT, JONES in Hamburg

Looking desparately for any clue to the identity of Henry BRANT b. 14 Feb 1790 in or near Albany Co., NY who m. 1835 Hamburg, Erie Co, NY Betsey Ann JONES (she b. 1818 in Pittsford, Monroe Co., NY). Their first child was born in Boston, Erie Co. in 1837; the next child was born in 1839 possibly in Buffalo. About 1840 they removed to Rock Co., WI where Henry BRANT died in 1870.
The only two Brants (that spelling) on the 1790 Albany Co. census were Henry and Michael. Any evidence of Henry Brant in Erie Co.? I have no idea where he was between his birth in 1790 and his marriage in 1835. Perhaps a PA connection? On a later census one child listed his father's place of birth as "PA." Note that he was age 45 when he m. Betsey--any evidence of a previous marriage?
Given this time period and locations, could Henry have been a worker on the Erie Canal
Thanks for ANY help!
