I've checked the all-name index to the standard reference for that area and his name does not appear. The book is "The History of the Original Town of Concord, being the present towns of Concord, Collins, N. Collins and Sardinia," by Erasmus Briggs, Rochester, 1883. Sorry. It runs to over 1,000 pages and I was sure he'd be there.

I also checked the index to the 1855 census of the towns in Erie County (outside of Buffalo) and couldn't find him there either, but he was old enough by that time to have gone out on his own and he may have been working for someone elsewhere. Have you tried the 1850 census?
