I am posting the information I have on Elizabeth Canvin in the event it is helpful to anyone. Elizabeth married Herbert Venable Ivins - a brother of my great-grandfather, William Ivins. On 16 June 1924 Elizabeth applied for a US passport. In the application she states she married Herbert V. Ivins in Chicago, IL on 26 Oct 1886 and that he died 14 Oct 1897. She also states he was born in Bloomington, IL She stated at the time of the application she was living at St. Paul, MN. The purpose of her trip was to travel to England, Scotland and France to "travel and visit relatives." She planned to depart from New York on 5 July 1924 on the ship Leviathan. Mrs. Elizabeth C. Ivins is shown as having returned to New York on the Leviathan on 12 August 1924 from Southampton. Her address was shown as 1823 Fairmount Avenue, St Paul, MN Here is what I have pieced together about her and her family from US census records: 1900 census, 12th ward, Chicago, IL: Lizzie Ivins, head, born Feb 1866 England, parents born England Maude Ivins, daughter, born Dec 1888 Illinois, father born Illinois, mother born England Myrtle Ivins, daughter, born July 1893 Illinois, father born Illinois, mother born England Herberta Ivins, daughter, born April 1898 Illinois, father born Illinois, mother born England George Ivins, brother-in-law, born Sept 1858 Illinois, father born Illinois mother born Kentucky, fruit dealer Henry Ivins, brother-in-law, born May 1876 Illinois, father born Illinois mother born Kentucky, teamster Mamie Ivins, sister-in-law, born May 1879 Illinois, father born Illinois mother born Kentucky, operator telephone 1910 Census, Buffalo, Erie County, NY Elizabeth Ivins, age 46, widow, b.
