Seeking any information on Philippe Dormeyer who was born 29 June 1795 in Lorentzen, Bas-Rhin, France, to Jacob Friedrich Dormeyer and Christina Margaretha Reeb. He married Eva Christina Reeb 26 March 1821 and she died 20 September 1829 one month after the birth of her fourth child. On the 19th of September 1848, a daughter of Philippe and Christina Reeb Dormeyer was married in Lorentzen to George Nonnenmacher. The marriage record gave the death date of her mother Christina Reeb Dormeyer and stated that her father, Philippe Dormeyer was 53 years of age and was now in "Amerique."

A quick check of the 1850 census reveals Philipp Dormeyer was living in Amherst, Erie County, NY and his age does indicate a birth year of 1795 and shows him born in Germany which is understanding since Lorentzen is located in what is now western Bas-Rhin, France and prior to 1793 had been part of the Nassau-Saarbruecken County which therefore places it between and surounded by Alsace and Lorraine. Philipp may have remarried in France and fathered at least one son of his second wife, also named Philippe and a second son was born later in New York. Any further information on Philipp Dormeyer and his descendants will be appreciated. John V. Reeb.

John
