Hello,
Recently obtained a copy of an obituary for Daisy Pearl Gates who died in San Antonio, TX in Dec. 1918. Within the obituary is the name Blanche Sutiff of Buffalo, NY. The obituary states "survived by her husband, R. L. Gates, one son and two daughters, her father Sam Wilcox and one sister, Blanche Sutiff of Buffalo, NY."
Daisy was the daughter of Samuel Wilcox (b 1855 Luzerne County, PA d 1944 Des Moines, IA) and Ella ? (b 1857 PA d unk). She had a younger brother, Lee who died in 1894 but we were unaware of a sister and would like to try to learn more about the sister. Sam and Ella separated about 1895 and Ella is a bit of a family mystery - we don't know if Blanche was a child born to Ella after she left Des Moines or whether she might have been Sam's child as well. If anyone has any information or can assist we would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
