I do not live in the Cortland area but I've done research there as I had ancestors living in Homer, Cortland County in the later 1800s - mid 1900s. I found everyone to be very accommodating.
I obtained copies of death certs which provided great information that I did not previously have. Also, if you know their religion, I had much success writing to the church for information..I made a small donation to the church.
