POLLEY, Silas, Hiram, Salome early-mid 1800's
Posted by: Barbara Date: October 27, 2001 at 19:05:49

Searching for information on my 2G grandfather Silas H. Polley b. 1837 in Cortland Co. and his parents. According to his marriage certificate his parents were Hiram and Salome Polley. Two siblings found so far are Henry S. and Rosina Polley Travis both living in Skaneateles NY at the time of Silas' death in 1890.

Silas moved to MI, then IL where he enlisted in the Union Army in 1861. He married Louisa Pope in 1864 in Beloit, WI. They lived in Freeport, IL after the war. Louisa moved to Chicago after Silas' death with her children Frank S. (married to Marie Jacobi), Hattie (married a Gunderson) and Charlie.

Does anyone know of a Polley family in Cortland Co. in this time period?

Thanks,

Barbara
