Have you checked the site for Cortland Co.? they have some printed records.
My family of Briggs were from Onondaga and Cortland Co.When they lived in Preble, Cortland Co. the mother, Eunice King Briggs, was remarried to Truman Kingsley. Have not been able to find out who Mr. Briggs was but her son was George W. and daughter, Addie. Addie married and went to Mo., and Ill. One son was b.MO, 2. was born Montgomery Co.Ill (maybe) and 3rd son born in Jerseyville, Jersey Co. Il. The husband of Addie was Charles Signor of Homer,NY. He was killed in a horse and buggy accident (so the story goes
After his death ca 1877/8 the family went back to NY. While checking records in IL, I saw other Briggs families from NY. Did they migrate together? Charles Signor worked for the railroad. This is not much help but do you have any other names from Cortland Co.?
Have you checked the census reord Index for Cortland Co.?
