There is a lot of census info. for this family; 1850 through 1870 as well as 1880 which you can see at http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp
From looking at the 1850-1870 census records it appears that Homer Bassett`s parents are probably Christopher & Julia Bassett both born in Connecticut. They are buried in the Scribner Cemetery in New Berlin. See here: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyotsego/cemetery/scribner.htm
