I am the granddaughter of Flora A. Tilyou (maiden name) who was born in Cadillac, MI. 1897. She was the daughter of Alphonso Tilyou, and the granddaughter of Carlile Tilyou born 1814 in New York, then moved to Jackson, MI. Carlile's Father was Peter Tilyou, who married Anna Canton. They lived near Albany, New York. Peter and Anna had several Children: Rueben, Rebecca, Betsy, James, Sally, Hannah, Jonathan, Catherine, CARLILE-my great-great grandfather, Anna and Emeline. My grandmother, Flora, also had two brother's Glen Eugene Tilyou and Lloyd Elwin Tilyou. Peter Tilyou's father (Joseph?) supposedly came from France and changed the name from Tilleu (or Tillou) to Tilyou. He settled near Rochester, NY.

I'm trying to trace the Tilyou line to find out if we are
related to some of the other Tilyous who keep appearing in the New York historical records. Many of the given names
keep reappearing generation after generation. Can you tell me if you are decendent's of Peter Tilyou of Albany?

Juli (Messlin) Johnson
