I'm looking for information on William Sheldon who according to the 1850 census was born approximately 1797 in Rhode Island. I originally thought his wife's name was Wealthy (surname unknown) as this is how she is listed in the 1850 census, I have since found that her first name may have been either Matta or Martha.
Williams wife was born approximately 1798 in Rhode Island according to the census. I know they had at least one child, my great-great-grandmother, Maryette Sheldon, who according to her death record was born in February 1828 at McDonough, Chenango County, New York.
The family eventually moved to Lewiston, Niagara County, New York, where Maryette married to Joseph William Langdon, approximately 1847.
If anyone has any clue as to who William and Wealthy were and where they came from I'd appreciate hearing from you.
