Oops, bad math...(regarding their mother's death in 1841). What was happening in 1850 in Dix, NY with the Griswold's: Their father had remarried to Fanny Matthews Van Orman between 1841 and 1845 and had children in 1845, 1846, 1847 and '1850' (last one born 1854)- I guess I can't imagine they would come home to help their step-mother deliver another baby... The mystery remains - did they go home, and if so, why? Maybe they were tough adventurous women??? Although Emily Wheeler had babies in 1845, - note: '1849, 1851', and then 2 more in 1854 and 1860. If she had an infant and was due to bear another one, it seems unlikely she would make that trip. Sarah would have a baby in March 1851, so she was 'just pregnant'. The trip seems more and more unlikely. Notify Administrator about this message?
