James Banfield (Bandfield) married Tabitha Jones. The date often given for this marriage is October 31, 1780. There is no primary source available for this date.
Tabitha died 19 August 1823. James married 2) Malinda (Melinda) Owens.
Melinda is mentioned in his Rev. War pension application as widow. The information I have read, mentions that she is much younger than her husband. No date of birth is given. I have no death date, nor place of burial.
The 1850 census for Erin, Chemung County, has John Banfield age 70. John, the son of James and Tabitha Jones Banfield, was born 1780 (no primary source). The John in the census is 70 (born 1780). The only John I have, the son of James and Tabitha, married Peggie Quick. Peggie died in 1846.
Living with John Banfield, 70, born NJ and Malinda Banfield, 50 b. NJ, are Pamela 21, Lucinda 16 and Adam (?) 14. Who are these Banfields? Pamela would have been born in 1929, Lucinda in 1834 and Adam in 1836. Peggie was still living, but I don't have them as her children.
Can anyone help me identify Malinda Owens Banfield?
I referred to Mrs. Blanche Hillman's notes for edification and she had John born 1789 and married the second time to Miss McMellan. She does not have Pamela, Lucinda nor Adam.
