Walter Arnold SIKES, 1886-1972
Posted by: William Muller (ID *****3372) Date: February 18, 2005 at 10:36:44
  of 937

Walter Arnold Sikes was the son of Orange Walter Sikes and descendended from a family with origins in early European settled New England.

Walter Arnold Sikes was born in Hebron, PA in 1886 and died in Portville, NY in 1972. He was apparently married twice. First, according to the 1910 census, he married Florence A. ?? in abt 1909 and had a child, Arnold J. (who was one month of age at the time of the 1910 census).

Family tradition has it that Walter divorced Florence and married Clara Elizabeth Mapes in 1915. Five children were born to this marriage.

QUESTION: Where might I find evidence of a divorce between Walter and Florence?

QUESTION: What happed to Arnold, the son of Walter and Florence? It would appear that he must have died early, because Walter and Clara went on to have a second Arnold, b. in 1919.

Any help would be appreciated. Willing to share.

Bill Muller (married to a Sikes)
