Seeking information regarding the Peters family that lived near Harpursville, NY, Broome County. Rose Peters (1877-1955) married first Bert Gibbons and secondly James VanNess. She had brothers Manuel, Addison, and James Peters. They are of supposed Indian descent and were from Troy, Pa. Brothers made baskets. Bert Gibbons we have no information on other than he had a daughter Ruth Gibbons Dewey. Family tells of a fire whaich may have occured circa 1909 and caused the breakup of the children of James and Rose VanNess. Two (Clarence and Gertrude) went into orphanages and one (Ruth) to a home in Troy, NY.
