Howard (Poppy) Loren Hansen
Howard (Poppy) Loren Hansen, 93, of Binghamton, formerly of Santa Cruz, Calif., was reunited with his wife, Lucille, on Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at River Mede Manor. He was the 9th of 12 children born to his parents. He was predeceased by his wife, Lucille; a son, Loren; his parents and all of his siblings. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Phyliss and Rev. Eugene B. Jensen, Marathon; grandsons, Eric L. Jensen, Tunkhannock, Pa., Robert Jensen, Endicott, Douglas and Missy Jensen, Owego; two great-grandchildren, Sean DeCarli, Ga., Alice Dattoria, Conklin; two special great-grandchildren whom he adored, Lauren Beth and Keenan Douglas, Owego; sisters-in-law, Iris Hansen, Santa Cruz, Calif., Alta Valentine, Vallejo, Calif., Grace Valentine, Watsonville, Calif.; also several nieces and nephews. Howard grew up on a farm and made his earliest living driving a truck and working for Shell Oil. He and his family moved to Santa Cruz, Calif. in 1938, where he was a businessman affiliated with Shell Oil, hardware and feed stores. He was a volunteer fire fighter and former chief of the Live Oaks Fire Dept. He was a member of the Surf City Kiwanis Club and a charter member of the Live Oaks United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. from the Springville, Pa. United Methodist Church with Rev. Sandra Kraft and Rev. Eugene B. Jensen officiating. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider memorial contributions to a charity of your choice.
