I am searching for Rosetta Tompkins, dau of Samuel Merritt Tompkins and Deborah Smith. I think she may have had a short marriage that began after 1860 and ended before 1877, and was possibly in Delaware (NY), Broome (NY) or Wayne (PA) Counties. The marriage would have produced no children who survived to the 1880 census. Her name is listed on a piece of paper I found in some family papers as Rosetta Baker Tompkins.
Rosetta is with her parents in the 1860 census in Sandford, Broome County. In 1870, her parents have moved to Wayne Co, PA, her sister, Catherine Hannah Tompkins, is married to Palmer Wheaton and living in Tompkins, Delaware County, but Rosetta is nowhere to be found. She shows up again in 1880, married to William Brown in Buckingham, Wayne Co., PA, and attending the Lake Como church. Per census data she married about 1877. In 1900 (back in Sandford) she states that she had borne 6 children, with 4 living. I can account for all four of the living children, and one of the dead children is from her marriage to William Brown. I don't know about the other one.
Any leads or suggestions would be very welcome.
