Native American "Connolly" family - adopted NYC (Bronx?)

Know of a native american Connolly tree? This is my first posting, so I am not sure how to begin. I would appreciate any help anyone can offer.
I am seeking information about my deceased husband's grandfather, a full blood Lakota man adopted by an Irish Connolly family in New York City (Manhattan?? Bronx??) He would have been born around 1905-1920...probably closer to 1915. Don't have his first name, so having lots of trouble. Indian records are not helpful at this point, and can't find on ss death index.
Also having trouble finding more info on husband's father, Charlie Connolly, born around 1930, died around 1980. Also not on ss death index...Charlie may be middle name? Thanks for any help you can offer.
