Sue,
The Bronx was part of Westchester, so try Westchester County Historical Society. However, certain western areas were annexed by Manhattan in 1874 and certain eastern areas in 1895...you need to contact NYC Municipal Archives for those. As to the directories, I found my Bronx addresses in the NYC directories for the years you mention. You can e-mail me directly if you want more specific info.
