It's been a long, long time since I last looked at this forum! Aimee and I have learned a lot more about David D. How since then. I wrote an article published in 2008 in Western New York Heritage magazine about How's murder of Othello Church, and I believe copies of it may still be available from their website.
Elder Joseph Badger took down David How's confession and wrote a detailed account of How's time in jail and his execution. How was buried in Til the Day Dawn cemetary (I think that's the full name) which is the big cemetary in Angelica about half a mile from the village square. There is no stone remaining for him or his first wife. The few stones in the area of the cemetary where they are buried have eroded away so badly they are barely recognizable as head stones anymore and any writing on them has long since disappeared. The only way I was able to pin down the location where they are buried was from an old burial plot map at the Allegany County Historians office which showed where Olive How was buried. Elder Badger states in his account of the hanging that David's body was taken down from the gallows, placed in a coffin built by his son-in-law, and carried to the cemetary by his family where he was laid to rest beside Olive, his first wife.
I am still interested in finding out more about David D. How's family, his parents, siblings, and his children from both his marriages.
