John Maynard, England to NY 1826
Posted by: Shirley Maynard (ID *****8510) Date: April 20, 2010 at 06:48:09

Parish records for Hawkhurst, Kent, England noted several Maynards who had their passage way paid for by parish funds.

First that I know was John MAYNARD, born about 1807, sailed on the ship "Virginia" in 1826.
I found John Manard in 1850 New York. He was in the same area where later Maynards settled.

In 1860, he was again located in NY but in a different area.
Name: John Maynard

Birthplace: England

John Maynard 52 -- born in England
Jane Ann Maynard 45 --born in NY
William H Maynard 24 -- born in NY
Delia Ann Maynard 18 --born in NY
Julia Ann Maynard 15 --born in NY

With only one son and 2 daughters (to survive), I've not been able to identify them in 1870 New York.
His brothers and sisters who emigrated remained in NY, some of the later ones went to IL and then to IA with a married daughter.

I have a lot of the Maynard information, but John's line stops here.
Does anyone recognize this group?

Shirley Maynard
Hampton, VA
