Alfred LATHROP--NY Methodist Circuit Rider

I'm searching for the parentage of Alfred b. 1794 in Saratoga County, NY. On 9 Jan 1814 he married Kesia Bogue, d/o Elijah Booge from the East Haddam area of CT. The marriage contract was performed by the Fly Creek, Otsego County Justice of Peace, William Lathrop. Wm Lathrop was the s/o Jeremiah Lothrop (b. 1720) in Norwich, CT.
Kesia's family had been near neightbors to the Wm. Lathrop's for over 10 years. That is the only connection I've found so far between William and Alfred.
By 1820 Alfred & wife were living in Freeport, Ontario Co., NY.--now Conesus, Livingston County. In the 1830 NY Census they were living in Scio, Allegany, NY. Here they raised their family. I have been able to document children: Alfred, Benjamin, John Walter (my line), Harriet and Elisabeth. Keziah (d. 1863) and Alfred are buried at Scio in the Fairlawn Cemetery. His gravestone tells us he was Rev. Alfred Lathrop. He had performed a funeral in early January and became ill. He died soon after, January 14, 1862.
These are my clues to the puzzle "WHO IS Alfred's father?" I'd appreciate any bits of information you could offer to solve this mystery.
