I know it has been some time since you posted your request for information on Charlotte Couch, so I hope you are still interested in a response.
I just learned recently that my gggrandmother's maiden name was Couch. Her given name was Mariett, b 21 Jun 1821 in Otsego Cty, NY, and she married a Victor B. Mix in Hume, Allegany County, NY, probably cira 1840. Her family moved to Allegany Cty, NY area from Otsego Cty, NY when Mariett was abt one year old. She died 22 Mar 1879 in Hume, Allegany Cty, NY and is buried in the Hume Cemetery, Hume, NY. I believe her parents were Loren J. Couch and Sally Meacham. Loren was the son of Jonathan Couch and Mary Bryant. Mariett had a sister whose name was Charlotte Couch, b abt 1827 in Hume, Allegany Cty, NY. I believe this is the person you were requesting information about. They also had a brother named Calvin E, Couch b in 1832 in Allegany Cty, NY. The only place I have ever found any information about Charlotte was in the 1850 US Federal Census for NY, Allegany County, Hume, which was taken on 3 Aug 1850 and shows up on line 78/78 of page 9 of 54 if you use SIDS, or on page 306 of the actual census. She was 23 years old at that time. I have more information on some of the other Couch relatives that I can share if you are interested. Back in those days they seemed to be conscientious about recording data on males, but the data on females is scarce. For example, Jonathan and Mary Couch had seven children, three sons and four daughters. We know a lot about the three sons, but do not even have the names of the four daughters.
I hope this has been helpful. If so, I would like to hear from you. Lowell J. Mix
