In Sylvester's History of Saratoga County (1879) there is a transcription of a tax list for Ballstown in late 1779 which includes the names of Thomas Barnum and Lewis Barnum.

Thomas and a Barnum without a listed given name were also listed in a 1787 tax list for Ballstown.

Comfort Barnum and Eliakim Barnum were on a tax list for Ballstown in 1788.

Keep in mind that the Ballstown district was very large in that time period, encompassing many of the towns of the western part of what in 1791 became Saratoga County.
