Hello List,

Is anyone researching the John Davis family of Greene County, New York?

John Davis born about 1812 possibly Albany Co., NY he died or is buried on 8 Sept 1887 & his wife Eliza (?) Davis. In the 1880 Federal Census they are in Coxsackie. According to the 1855 State Census John and Eliza are born in Albany Co., New York. Stephen F born about 1840 in Albany Co., NY, David C born about 1843 in Albany Co., NY. Adaline born about 1845, William 1848, Andrew 1850, Lovina born about 1852 all born in Greene Co., NY.

On line sources say John & Eliza Davis are buried at the Losee Family Cemetery (i.e. King Hill Cemetery, Greene Co., NY).

I am hoping to locate a complete list of his children.

Thank You,
Debbie Freeman

Background:

In case anyone is researching this family. Or anyone wishing to give feedback. I like feedback Please.

This is a long shot. I have a Mary A Davis born 29 Sept 1833 in New York State. Location unknown on the 1850 Federal Census. She married Parish Moses Freeman of Monroe Co, NY in 1850 soon after the Federal Census. Her husband's obit has him born in Lexington, NY. I am going on the theory that the parents place of birth was confused at the time of the obit. According to his Civil War Pension he was born in Monroe County, NY. Mary A Davis's father is believed to be a John Davis. There is no Mary in the John & Eliza Davis household in 1850. There are way too many Mary A Davis possibilities in the 1850 NY Census. So I am trying to eliminate or confirm this John Davis. As well as other John Davis's of Monroe Co., NY. Mary A Davis's marriage in 1850 was preformed by a Elder Fay. It might be the same one connected to the Christian Church of Freehold. So maybe she is from Green County instead of Monroe County, NY. As you can see I am trying a long shot. Her Nebraska sources death certificate, obit, does not help.

Thank You
Debbie Freeman
