Dignum/Dignam - Westmeath to Albany

I am looking for information on my great grandfather, Michael Dignum of Westmeath.
The name was originally Dignam. I believe his father was John and that he had an uncle
James. I have no mother's name. Siblings are James, Ann, Thomas, John and Patrick.
Declarations of Intent show that Michael, James and John sailed from Dublin, but I do not
know the year or the port of arrival. I believe that Michael was born about 1830 and he
lived in Albany, New York from about 1850. I do not have any more information on
Michael's Westmeath origins. His first wife was Ellen Ham, possibly from Westmeath and
his second wife, Bridget Egan, my great grandmother, is from an unknown county in
Ireland. The surname spelling varied greatly in the early records, but settled on Dignum
about 1875. Any information or suggestions would be most appreciated.
