Hello: I am searching for records for two of my great grandmothers and am coming up against brick wall. If anyone can help me I will be evermore grateful. I have searched cemeteries on line and all available census records with not much luck. I live in CO am unable to visit my home state of NY to research this. Here's what I am looking for.
Sarah Morris b. 1850 married Byron Westervelt Kenyon(my birth name)in Lansingburgh, Rensselaer Co., NY in 1870. Byron was b. in 1849 in Glens Falls, NY. Sarah's mother and father were John and Sarah Morris and siblings were Francis (Fanny), Emma and maybe Helen. Troy Public Library found this in 1850 W. Troy census for me. What I need is: who Sarah's Grandparents are, maternal and fraternal.
Emma Woods b. 12-11-1866 married a Mr. Knight and they probably lived in West Troy, Watervliet area. They had 7 children, Martha (Mattie) b. 1889, Wallace, Ernest E, William J., Frank M, Sherman, and George W. Martha, my grandmother married Clifford C. Kenyon of Glens Falls. I would like to find out what my G Grandfather Knight's first name was and his parents names. And who were Emma Woods parents and Grandparents. I have no other info on Emma. This will allow me to try to research whether they originally came from Ireland or England.
The family history handed down to me and my siblings was that one of my G Grandmothers was related to Robert Morris the Signer of the Declation of Independence. In addition to knowing who my gg and gg grandparents are I would like to discover if there was actually a family connection to Robert Morris. I am researching this to give my daughter a history of her ancestors since most of our family is deceased now. The Kenyon history, I have traced back and have since found that my ancestors are documented in the book "The American Kenyons" by Capt. Howard Kenyon in 1935 which contains some inacuracies. My family line ends in that book with Byron Kenyon and Sarah Morris' marriage. Logically you would think the Robert Morris connection would be Sarah Morris but my sister seems to remember it was Emma Woods and I cannot find any information about her in the census records since I don't know who parents were. Can anybody out there help me. I realize this is a lot to ask of someone who may have access to record in Troy. Sincere thanks, Dodie (Kenyon)Ricca Sando.
