Thanks for your post. I know that Lawrence F. Blankenship is buried in the VA cemetery there in 1961. He died of cancer in December 1961 at the VA hospital in Reno. I would love to find out who, if anyone, claimed his remains and conducted his service. I am hoping to find out if any family attended. I have gotten his death certificate, but it doesn't tell me much.
Lawrence was my biological grandfather, but I never knew him. He traveled a lot because he worked for the railroad. He met my grandmother, Mildred Neff, in 1933 in San Diego and married her in 1934. They were divorced in 1939, I think, in CA. This was primarily because he had three other wives in other cities at the same time, which my grandmother didn't discover until she had three children with him. A judge apparently ordered him into the military instead of sending him to prison for polygamy.
I have found him in the 1930 census in San Diego, married to soemone other than my grandmotherand with a son. From about 1940 until 1961 I have no records of him. Any leads you can provide would be appreciated.
